Pelican Parts Search Engine Development Update...

Okay, I took many of your suggestions to heart, and came up with this:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=DWsearch&description=brake

A lot more works right now, but there are still some things that don't (See more results doesn't work for Catalog, Parts, or Support sections). Funky works in quotes also don't work. But the filtering now works, so you can filter by year range (ex. 911 (1974-89).

Let me know what you think...

Thanks!

Maybe you can sell the technology to Google...

The formatting of the page is a little off on my Netscape browser but the concept is great. I think these changes are going to make a big difference in your sales at Pelican.

One suggestion for future reference. Get rid of the chat room, email, photo gallery info at the top of all the forum pages and put it somewhere else.
Same goes for the User CP, and other buttons at the top. Move them to the bottom or something. This area is prime real estate for your advertising. You can use this space for something like a rotating banner of closeout specials.

one more comment -- maybe the site can track what car a user has (with a cookie) or tabs could be put on the results page to filter for each model.

I often get a bunch of 944 stuff when searching for partsfor my 911 (the horror!)

Already working on it - this will be operational when the website is redesigned...
