Don't like it, doesn't look quite right, and looks too kit-ish

Rot 911 01-20-2004 12:50 PM

It looks like the back is a solid piece. How would you access the engine?

v9ff 01-20-2004 12:57 PM

Man... that thing is loooooong! Even those huge wheels can't fill the wheel well. I've seen a pretty good Carrera GT kit car a little while ago.

Don't even get me started ... http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/shake.gif

Looks too long and flat.

"No user-servicable parts inside."

I've seen that "thing" before. It ain't pretty my friends. The wheelbase is was off for that body. It reminds me of those Fiero-Testarossa kit cars. 'Nuff said.

that car is a insult to the gt1 in so many ways

D Hanson 01-20-2004 02:12 PM

I think the real car looks like ****. This is just worse.

exc911ence 01-20-2004 02:37 PM

This one's better:

At least there's a 996 under there!

:)

cegerer 01-20-2004 03:47 PM

That looks really bad!

Here's a couple of shots I took at Rennsport of the real deal:

Imagine the embarrasment when that whole body kit peels off at 65MPH revealing a cruddy 914.

TRE Cup 01-20-2004 05:15 PM

The Patritti one is off on dimensions, but it looks proportional and the workmanship is pretty nice. The original is too aggressive looking as a street car, anyway. Oh well.. to each his own

m325ix 01-20-2004 07:56 PM

http://www.patritti.com advertises in excellence this month, I saw his car last summer, it's not bad, I liked it more than any other 'kit' car I saw, except for the 356 speedster replica

Wrecked944 01-22-2004 08:49 AM

Is the Patritti car a mid-engine conversion of 996? It looks nice, but it would seem to be sort of pointless to replicate a GT1 without putting the motor in the proper place. And cegerer is right about the kit car. It looks awful. The rear wheel appears to be too far forward in the wheel well - as though the kit were designed for a car with a longer wheel base. Does anyone make a gt1 replica with a stretched 911 chassis and mid-engine design? If not, then it would seem like a waste of time to cover up a perfectly nice porsche body with so much fiberglass with no performance enhancements.

I like it. This is the working part of the Patritti car:

Was that the car for sale in New Zealand?

cegerer 01-22-2004 06:45 PM

Not sure where I got those from, but that rings a bell ....
