What grease to use on shift bushing?

I was just about to start project 37 (replacing the shift bushings) and realized I've got everything except the lithium grease, doh!

However I do have some bearing grease, Castrol HTB (bentone clay based). Is grease grease? Can I use my bearing grease on the bushings or should I get lithium grease?

Regards,
Andrew.

Hmmh, never used lithium grease on anything. Usually i put this Moly...something or just plain vaseline.

hmmm... sounds like grease is grease... and in a pinch might even work for a rash ;)

Moly or silicone should be o.k, mabye even lithium, but but the petroleum based products will start to break down rubber.
It should be thick enough to stay but thin enough to self clean and not cause drag.

Thanx, I'll get some moly or silicone. What is Moly?

I got a little side tracked last night, once I had the gear shift off I decided that it needed a sand back and re-spray... so now I'm waiting for the second coat to dry.

moly = Molybdenum Disulfide(MoS2). It's a lubricant that works under HIGH pressure where most other lubricants would break down.

yes -- it's graphite on steroids (so to speak)
