Interior colors...opinion needed
I stole a photo of somebodys door and photoshopped it. How would this look on a Carrera? Has anybody done this kind of treatment on a late 80's car?

Looks nice but I would only reccomend its done on a car you plan to keep where resale value is not a concern. I would suppose your exterior would match or a least go nice with that color choice.

I've been trying to come up with ideas to update the interior on my 88. I saw somewhere where someone had used a combination of black and camel/tan interior on a Carrera and it looked really good. I had an 88 535i that was this combo interior and it looked very good.
Keep the ideas coming.

Pimp-o-riffic!!!
Now that I have probably insulted your taste, would you mind telling me how you do that in Photoshop?? Change the colors and get all the shading to look correct? Thanks!

Check out the black over can-can red targa:
I like it too.

That car would actually be tastefully done without that color everywhere. Changing to a black carpet kit might make all the difference.

I'd get rid of the two tone. It is pimp.

I am swaping the red interior out of a silver 88 into my black 84 targa--I think it is a great combination. I also have a black LE miata with a red interior so I have always liked the combo. It helps to break up all that black inside and out. I think the targa shown above would look better with the black bar--but I love the wheels.

What?

Mine is interior doors are original 2 tone, black top and bottom, with a white panel. It has a black dash and black carpet with white seats. I didn't like the look at first but it has grown on me. Your door color combination would actually tone down the look of my doors.

I have a black 86 Cab with the full red leather interior. I have red seats and carpet, red door panels and pockets, but the leather piece along the top of the door is black, as is the dash, and I have black floor mats with the Carrera script embroidered in red on them. I think it is a good combination. There is a good contrast in the colors and it does not make you go blind getting in.
While I really like the targa listed above, I think having the red dash is almost too much. Bill I have ton's of pics if anyone wants any, they are just too large to post. |

I have a red 86 Turbo with a tan(cashmere?) interior. Was thinking of getting black mats. I'm not sure how it will look, but the mats would sure be easier to keep looking clean.

here's a champange and black interior in my '87. The black mats are much easier to keep clean.

Re: Photoshop - the easiest way to keep color values, textures, etc when changing the color is to make your selection then use Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation > Click on the colorize tab and preview. Adjust the sliders to your liking. Hue changes the color, saturation the amount of color and lightness is self-explanatory.

John "JFK713",
Do you have additional interior picts. I have the same camel color interior and am planning the black treatment.
