The exhaust is off!!!

In preparation for the engine drop this Saturday, we removed the entire exhaust system as one piece. We also took off both half shafts. There is no turing back now.

Saturday, we WILL follow Wayne's book, but today we just got a little jazzed and started taking things off. The lift makes things so easy, not to mention Mose has ever tool you would ever need.

Congradulations Mark. I see your engine was a bit leakier than mine by the time you got to pulling it.

My friend Mose said that those aren't really leaks, it was my specially designed lubrication system that kept the exhaust studs and nuts from being frozen in place. They all came off without problems!

I can't wait until Saturday.

LOL, I didn't even think about how all that oil was just porsche's time released anti-sieze and undercoating system.

It worked great for my cam towers and chain housings but my exhaust system stayed too dry and hot and made my exhaust removal a bear.

You guys are amazing -- now I'm all fired up. I want to go home and drop my engine for a rebuild. Never mind that it only has 120K on it, and runs like a dream, ya'll look like you're having so much fun with this...

Did you re-build your half shafts, swap the cores for re-built, or just buy new ones. The ones in the picture look pristine. Mine were uh..... well, not pristine.

Mine were pretty nasty until I washed them up pretty good in the parts washer.

That greasy road grime is pretty good at protecting the underlying rubbmer and metal and comes off pretty easy with mineral spirits.

Most everything in that pic is in the condition it was when I disassembled it or given a quick wash in the parts cleaner.

I'm a little concerned. I see this photo from the Mad Rocket Scientist's garage with a disassembled 911 motor at the same level as a University of Florida diploma. Now remind yourself, my Gator friend, how much that diploma cost your family and you. Maybe you could at least HANG IT UP!!???

LOL, that pic was taken right after I was laid off so that postal service box and my diploma are the contents of my old office.

I knew all of that stuff wasn't going anywhere soon so I put it all into the same pile.
