Worlds best reason to own a 911

I do not own a 911 so I can win the next green light drag race. I do not own a 911 so other's will think I am rich and safisticated. I do not own a 911 to impress anyone besides myself.

I simply own a 911 because I spend more time thinkiing about my last drive, than I did driving it!

on-ramp 01-26-2004 07:43 PM

it owns me.

:)

350HP930 01-26-2004 07:48 PM

If you had a 930 you could win the drag races to boot. ;)

MY83SC 01-26-2004 07:52 PM

TG for the HP Junkies....911's always win :)..........But has zero to do with why I have a 911

MY83SC 01-26-2004 08:06 PM

Bump...because I could!

MY83SC 01-26-2004 08:18 PM

??? Why do you own a 911? What's your reason???

MY83SC 01-26-2004 08:27 PM

Gee...I bet even Jack spends more time dreaming of last weekends 1:30 run than he did doing it!

nostatic 01-26-2004 08:38 PM

that's funny, I think about my *next* drive...

Victor 01-27-2004 12:28 AM

What's wrong with people thinking you are rich and sophisticated?

Me too, that's why it sucks when your car is broken.

You are right, being Poor and sophisticated is just as rewarding!
just makes getting the car harder :-)

carmad 01-27-2004 05:40 AM

Having a smile like the Joker in Batman, everytime I press the loud pedal.

turbo6bar 01-27-2004 05:58 AM

Dreamed of one as a kid. Now, it turns frowns upside down.

djmcmath 01-27-2004 06:16 AM

I don't own a Porsche because it's faster than anything else. I don't own a Porsche to "beat" my friends who bought Subarus and Hondas (even though they really wanted Porsches). I don't own a Porsche because it impresses women, though women somehow buy into the "rich and sophisticated" appearance. I don't own a Porsche because I'm compensating for something smaller (not to say that I don't _need_ some compensation, just that the Porsche isn't it...).

I own a Porsche because driving a Porsche is more addictive than crack or heroine. I own a Porsche because of all the things I could have done with my finite supply of cash, buying the car I've wanted since I was 8 years old came up first on the list. I own a Porsche because, above all, it's just plain fun to drive.

Woohoo!

Dan

joecrum 01-27-2004 06:31 AM

Why do I own a Porsche? You know how dreams are sometimes better than reality... not true with the Porsche. The reality of driving and owning one is much better than any dream. Besides, what else is there???

Highway beautification.

azasadny 01-27-2004 09:22 AM

I heard German angels singing when I first sat in the driver's seat (and they haven't stopped yet)!!!

wastintime 01-27-2004 09:29 AM

911s are the worst cars ever built... the hardest cars ever to work on... the most screwed over by resellers, the hardest to not get screwed over buying, and horrid money pits... Every 30 minute job takes three hours and at least $300 more than you exected.

However, when you're foot is to the floor coming around turn 9 at roebling road about to redline it in third it suddenly all seems worthwhile. especially when you're just a poor college student

caliber60 01-27-2004 09:31 AM

German engineering, air-cooled.

Elombard 01-27-2004 09:37 AM

adjustable gas/brake pedal
built in jack point, raises the whole side of the car
mag engine and trannies
low center of gravity motor
motor in the back
a 915 is a "tool" not a gear box
factory height adjustable suspension
factory dry sump
4 wheel disc brakes since 1965
huge disc brakes
Fuchs'
ducks'
More later - I cant decide

Uh... I think I understand the point that you are trying to make, but to me it seems to be based on many untruths.

911s are the worst cars ever built...

Well that's just crazy

the hardest cars ever to work on...

Mine is probably one of the easiest cars to work on of any '88, and is bested only by my old '65 impala.

horrid money pits...

Well, I suppose they could be but mine hasn't been.

Every 30 minute job takes three hours and at least $300 more than you exected.

Well, nothing is cheap on a Porsche, but I generally get things done faster than I expected.

damn, that is an ugly front spoiler, you need a black splitter and some holes.....

the best reason to own a 911 is because you can, and few do.

I own a 911 because it is simply a work of art. Some get it, some don't.

Wrecked944 01-27-2004 11:01 AM

Here is something I hear from many Porsche owners including myself...

After you've driven a Porsche, all other cars feel unsafe and out of control.

Oooh, I'll definitely second that -- I travel for business from time to time, and get rental cars all over the place. I did the DC Beltway in a Mitsubishi Evo -- never again. I'll walk before I let someone rent me a 'bishi again. My most recent trip to San Diego included a Chevy Malibu -- that's supposed to be a great car, but no such luck. I hated every second of it. I actually called my room-mate, 1500 miles away to tell him how much I hated that car. Heck, I even drove a friend's WRX -- every corner left me feeling less and less confident in the car's predictability, exactly the opposite of my 911.

Why do I own a 911? ... for the same reasons I own a Jack Russel Terrier it's fast, low to ground, can turn on a dime, accelerates in heartbeat and it's "one of kind". Oh and just like the JRT the 911 likes to be taken out to play.....

scottb 01-27-2004 12:14 PM

World's best reason to own a 911? That's easy...

California Highway 1 between Carmel and San Luis Obispo. Enuf said.

DavidI 01-27-2004 12:24 PM

I like dropping the top, letting the california sun gently kiss my face, as a 6 cylinder 200 HP Porsche engine chases me - growling the entire way!

GrindingGears 01-27-2004 12:37 PM

My girl is flat chested and has a flat ass. At least my car has nice curves.

84porsche 01-27-2004 12:49 PM

The best reason I can think of for owning a 911 is taking the long way home. Also, opening the garage and being happy everytime and having the top off in the summer and hitting 80 mph with the sun and wind hitting your face. And being able to get out of the way of a motorhome moving across 4 lanes and still have more power to go. So many reasons, so little time.

Az911 01-27-2004 01:50 PM

I own a 911 because it is the best looking car on the road. Everytime I walk away from it I have to take a second look at it.

I also love the car becuase there are unlimited mods that can be done.

I am still trying to determine if I am safisticated.

Oldporsche 01-27-2004 03:49 PM

It's one of the few cars in this world that there's no reason to own?

I own one beause no other car I've ever driven has been able to put that crazy look on my face like this one.

I own one because every one of them is a different car and each one has something that I love about it.

I have owned seven of them and if I could afford it I would own 70 of them.

I don't know, I'm sort of sick that way.

David Duffield

Mark Wilson 01-27-2004 04:05 PM

There is no other car that can replace it.

Tim Walsh 01-27-2004 04:23 PM

because wrenching on a 911 is a stress reliever and wrenching on anything else is a stress inducer.

RSBob 01-27-2004 04:31 PM

Driving one always feels like the first time you had sex without a condum.
