Thabaer, I have the jack adapter for the engine and trans. The motor was just fine on the adapter. I pulled the trans off the engine while it was on the jack adapter, the engine was pretty stable on the adapter by its self. I then put the trans and engine back to geather with it sitting on the jack adapter. It was still pretty stable. However I was careful not to jerk it around too much, and I kept it down as low as it would go because its not perfictly balanced when its just the engine.It was a big help when I did some work on my car. If your like me, and don't have any friends handy when you need them the adapter is what you need when you work by your self.I had to get a little creative trying to get the motor on the stand, but I could not of done it with out the adapter. I don't have one of Wayne's good jacks they would of make it real easy to put on stand by yourself. think that the jack adapter is the only way to go, I can't immagine droping an engine with out one now.

I read every word in the product descriptions and nothing hinted at that being possible, seeing as you had to be careful doing it it's probably safer for PP not to suggest it or the coffee spillers would have a field day!

It still looks tricky with my stand that has a leg (like the ones above) right where you want the jack to roll, but I s'pose I'll just dive in.

As far as putting the motor on/off the stand, I agree the 3 or 4 guys wins hands down. No balancing, no arranging comealongs, chains, cherrypickers. Simply put the stand adapter on there, then everyone grab something sturdy (not the muffler, right Mark? :p) and lift. Piece of cake.

the engine stand I have is just like the ones above, I had to get the jack up off the ground and then assemble the stand around the jack. when I put the engine back on the jack I did the same procedure and had to take the stand apart. I had to get pretty creative with the whole procedure, jack up engine, put blocks under engine, make platform for jack, pick up engine, assemble stand, put engine on stand, the whole thing would be so much easier with a "U" shaped engine stand. but I could not see buying a new stand after spending as much money as I did. a bad 1st gear syncro turned into SSIs, new clutch, revalved rear shocks, and all new syncros and syncro hubs and several specalized tools
