993 turbo sports seats
I'm thinkin of fitting 993 turbo sports seats (the hard backed ones) for my 911 SC. Does anyone know how much these weigh compared to a 964 4-way electric sports seat?
Also, does anyone make replacement 'backs' for the 993 seats in carbon fibre or carbon kevlar? I know it's a bit 'bling' but thought i'd seen them advertised somewhere... but can't find them now. Thanks, Jon H.

They are not a lot lighter than the regular seats, don't get them for weight savings. I think the carbon back was used exclusively for the Trubo S model but I could be wrong.

Hard to find and expensive.
Try http://nrauto.com , they make a kit for late model seats to convert them to turbo seats for $1500.00 |

Cheers guys, i already know a person with a pair of seats so finding them isn't a problem, and they're pretty cheap too. They are the carbon back type but have been colour coded so wondered if replacements are available.
I would like to change to Recaro SPG's but this would prevent my father from borrowing the car so thats a no-go option at the moment. Are they definately heavier than the 964 seats i have already? Figures anyone? Thanks, Jon H.

No problem Steve, but do you realise i'm in the UK, not the USA!!
BTW, the carbon back seats are on offer for less than a pair of new SPG's.....!

I have a set of the 'hard back conversions'.
They are made by an Italian company and also provide little 'wing' pads to emulate the 993 sport seats. This is not the same thing nrauto sells. The real seats have finally come down in price from $5K a set to around $2800. My kit (never installed, and I'm not going to use it) is $575 for the pair.

Yes, I realise that you are in the UK. Sounds like the price is very good. If you buy them, you will be very happy. If not, maybe you can pass this deal to me.
Thanks |
