Crane Cams - anyone used them?

Has anyone used crane cams in their cars?
My 2.7 has a crane cam I am told.
I have visited the web site and they only show 3 possible cams for 2 litre 3 litre and 3.2 litre.
I am guessing mine is this one as the performance takes off after 4K revs. Any other way of knowing from the outside?

Hmmm.. guess noone uses Crane Cams

Ok, anyone know if there is anyway that I can tell from the outside , which cams I have?.
please excuse if this is a daft question.

Also I can tell a huge change in engine tone at 4K+ revs, which I was sure was detonation.
A friend told me that a rough Porsche engine that sounded like a can of dried peas in a can at idle was that way due to race cams.

Do race cams make the engine sound rattly at idle or is it possible that the cams I have are making rattle noises at higher revs?

Again sorry if this question is daft, I am just fishing for hopeful easy answers which are not going to cost $$$$$$ in rebuilds

I have the exact same P-306 cams in my racecar. Good balance of power and torque. I do not rev my race car over 7300k (well sometimes ) so this was the perfect choice for my race motor.
The only way to check it is to yank the cams out.

You can degree them, but not with the engine in the car.

Ben, you really need to do some detective work, and find out who built the engine, and what he put in it.

Looking at jluetjen's chart, that is a pretty hot cam, higher lift/duration than a 906.

I have Crane P-288s in my 2.4 sleeper motor. One of 'em, can't remember which, has a stamping in the end of the cam for ID purposes. Pull your chain covers and see if yours do, too.

After spending a lot of time with modified Porsche engines, I can't say I've ever heard a healthy one sound the way you describe. Before worrying about $$$ for rebuilds, I'd go over the basics and gather some facts. Check valve adjustment, look for exhaust leaks, broken head studs, etc.
