What is this brace for?

I've asked this before, but this time I've got pics:

What is this thing for just below the dash? and can I leave it off for a period while I finish my interior?

not sure what you are try to get us to look at, but there is nothing under the dash which can be removed that is structural, so leave it off as long as you like.

The brace........probably holds the floorboard.

This brace is only present on targas and stiffens the body. I would not remove it.

If you have Windows XP, the Paint program handles .jpegs now. That's all I use.

I thought you mend the part where the blue arrow is pointed to, but you probably talked about the one where the red arrow is pointed to.

I believe it is a brace unique to the targa, personally I wouldn't remove it, the engineers must have put it there for additional strength

Whoa! What brace? I have an 83 Targa and see no brace on it! Does that thing bolt in, or how do you connect it. I'm stiffening my Targa and this seems to be step #1. Where can I get this brace PO prolly removed the original one.

Jim, the brace fits right below the dash. It slides into two male ends welded to the body. It probably didn't come with your car, you would know if it did...

There is no brace on the SC targa model. I stripped my car and there is no brace or brackets for it to mount too.

Yes, that is a brace. If anyone wants to add them to their car for added stiffness, I have several NOS ones on the shelf - PM me...
