wow, this sucks, I'll keep trying. Wonder if its firewalls getting in the way?

My guess is firewalls, I have disabled mine. When I tried to connect to surflvr I think I must have timed out. It sat there trying to connect and then eventually said "connection lost" but there was no evidence that it was ever created.

Hmm, there's not much to screw up on this, just "create" a game and wait. I can't imagine that AOHelL would keep you from joining my game, so I vote that it's not an AOL problem.

This is sad, I get paid to fix network problems and computer stuff is one of my hobbies. If I could just telnet into a router or switch... :rolleyes:

I don't know, it used to work fine when I was running over a modem on 98 2nd, but that was 3 years ago.

I tried to start up a network, but all I got was the local ip from my router.

Hmmm... when I go to NFS PU in my C: drive there is a notepad doc. that says version. When I open it it just says 3.2.

So, I'm guessing the patch didn't take. I followed the install screens... but I'm thinking it is not installing properly.

I can ping Steve, so my PC can talk to his, byt not Ryan. I am guessing there may be some sort of firewall in between.

I can't connect to Steve though, it times out.

ok, looks like this is done on tcp and/or udp port 9400, I set my firewall up to allow those ports, and turned it back on, so now I can see if anyone tries to connect.

Well, when I enter the IP addy, and click "connect" it minimizes the games and just sends me back to my desktop... nothing happens...

It's just not going to work for me. Any suggestions out there? XP firewall is deselected and aol has never prevented connection before, but I can understand it getting in the way of me hosting it.

Man, I'd love to race later. I just connected at emcons IP (as Scratchy) but I really have to have dinner with guests.

I'm seeing activity, it'll say 'connecting' for a little while then 'connection lost'.
I tried a bad IP and there wasn't any activity so it's trying.
Once in a while it will sit on 'connecting' and the DSL modem will just keep showing activity until I hit 'cancel'.


I don’t know what to do, I need help! All I think about is how much fun you guys are having here on friggin’ Tuesday night.
