Chris,
I love it!!!! When I lived in DC, I'll bet that was you up there! Anyone else care to top Chris?

Chris,
Just another thought. If you take something removable from your car up in the air with you, can you then claim that a part of your car went 1.4 Mach?

Is this like the Mile High Club, or do you merely have to *drive* 200 mph?

I'm good for 160 in a GT 3. On a back road by my house. Riding not driving.
I'm good for about 140, feeling comfortable. After that s*** really starts to happen fast. NO BLINKING ..............

I'm only good for 150 indicated. I had some petal left though - maby 160? Who knows how accurate my speedo is though. I've flown my father-in-law's Beechcraft at about 220 mph (ground speed).

One time on Rt. 72 in the Pine Barrens in NJ, I was the only car in sight for a good 6 miles, very flat and straight. In my Carrera I came to a stop and started from rest, got to 140mph, before I got scared. On the track I've had my 993 to 130mph. Another 993 in Germany I had to about 165mph. That is scary fast. In the Ruf TT, I was positive I was going to die and there would not have been an organ intact to donate. Maybe teeth, but nothing else.

170+ (stopped looking at the gauges by then) Ferrari Testarossa, Dayton, Ohio about 1986 or 7. Passed one of our customers (he was in a Jag doing about 75) and he later said they looked up cuz the sound made them think a plane was landing on the highway. Then he saw a "red blur and swish" and then it was gone...

I've gone over 200 mph without any vehicle, and powered by nothing but gravity. Does that count?

120-ish is the avg. for (most) belly-to-earth freefall. However with a head-down orientation, tight jumpsuit, and a bit of practice, you can exceed 200mph. A weighted lead vest helps a bit too. The current freefall speed record (within the Earth's atmosphere) is just over 320 mph!

Baja California- between Ensenada and San Felipe on the La Carrera Classica, we hit 195 mph for about 3-4 minutes- yes the straight was that long. Very much a white knuckler as the amount of wind you push at those speeds is incredible! I can't show you the night pic of us doing the same speed testing outside of Ely for the silver state (where the fuel system went down on the starting line the next day) Yes- I was a lunatic! Maybe still am.....

175 Mph in Steve Watsons GT1 spec 911 race car...as passenger..back straight at Watkins Glen..
"Wil"...he says....," I've got the knob turned to position 3 ( 1-6 range) and we're only making 580 hp there..." Still...the question is 200 mph club...sadly..."no" ---Wil Ferch
