coolest SC on the planet
Okay perhaps I should qualify that remark. To ME it is the coolest SC on the planet. And isn't that what it's all about? Here's a couple "before" pics:
![]() and ![]() and ![]() It was pretty rough when I bought it but the price was certainly right and the PO was a skilled pro mechanic (and friend) who had kept the car mechanically sound. I wanted an old school look for my SC so I sold the tail, 16x7 and 9s, and RSA seats. This brought my initial cost down to an even more reasonable level. Then I bought all new rubber and eventually found chrome trim, window frames and door handles. I bought a decklid and front valence without chin spoiler or fogs. Then it went to the paint shop for respray to original color (copper brown metallic). I found a full black interior out of a crashed 83 SC and a pair of black leather sport seats from a '79 930. ![]() The only concession to modernity is the Alpine/Boston/Infinity stereo (I have a stop & go commute almost every day). The back seats (plaid) are from a fellow Pelican, and went in last week. ![]() I bought the wheels on Pelican also, and had them refinished to RS spec by Weidmann's Wheels, who did a superb job. I put cushy 205/60-15 and 215-60-15 Dunlops on it, and the only suspension mods are Bilstein HDs and 27mm torsions in the rear, and turbo tie rods. It rides wonderfully and handles fine for a street car. The motor and trans were built by FlatSix here in Bloomington: 9.8:1 P/Cs, 964 cams, SSIs. Makes 195 at the wheels. Has a 7:31 R&P and a taller 5th gear (bought both from John Walker). Weighs 2500 lbs so it's pretty rapid. The Pelican board has been a great resource all the way through. ![]() ![]()

very nice. I love the way those rear wheels sit. It's like it's flying while sitting still

It looks great. Personally I don't understand all of the downgrades, but to each his own.

Interesting approach for sure. Looks great none the less.
I would have kept the 7/9x16's for tire availability and the tail, I've been looking for that style tail for some time now.

masraum: it's strictly a street car so I didn't need the tail or big sticky tires. It's more fun to slide it around! Plus they didn't go with the look I was aiming for.
Superman: it's Copper Brown Metallic (one of four available browns in 1978!) TerryBPP: thanks- and thanks for those rear seats.

I thought so. Copper Brown Metallic is very very very close to the color of my car, which folks are probably tired of hearing me rave about. Handsome car, Bobby.

I also agree with the Fogless look being nice. In fact I find my "Driving" lights (fog replacements) to be pretty close to worthless.

Sweet, it's interesting to see the difference color will make.
Bobby's car looks great with the polished paddles, they just look "right". At the same time I've never seen completely polished wheels look as good on a 911 as they do on Schuey's car.

Yep, I much prefer the fogless look, even to the late flush mount fogs (which are useless).

Erik, where are you located? I was going to use the yellow headlamp lenses but thought I would just get pulled over immediately. Cool cars, everybody!
