Buy SC headlights in Germany? H4 or else?

Would it make sense to buy headlights for my SC from Germany? Are the H4 conversions just that, or do the German cars have other headlights?

I am just looking for the european look. I may have a chance to buy the headlights in Germany. I want to make sure whatever I can get directly through the Vaterland will fit and function correctly without any major surgery!

Anyone???

THANKS!

George

I also confirm that German cars use H4 headlamps.
But you may want to bear in mind that, given the present rate of exchange 1 Euro = US$ 1.25, you may well find H4's cheaper in the USA...depends on a number of factors...

Get H4's here. They're not too expensive and they work super. Best bang for the buck on 911 mods.

Well, what are the "tits"? The nipple things seemingly in the middel of your headlights that will destroy your ice scraper if you go over them? I just did this when we were in the snow! What are they there for???

I don't want tits then and the kraut-lichter will have to be it! What happens on the back end of the light. The connection? Does the plug of the US connector fit? Probably not, right? Is there fitting necessary?

Also, with h4 headlights, do you need to install relays on an SC?

TIA, George

The nipple things are for aligning us spec headlights. They fit into the alignment machine. E-code lamps are aligned visually - well, in Europe they have a machine too. Check out this site for info on e-code lights, alignment instructuins, etc.

The plug for H4's is a standard 3 prong, though I'm not sure what you have on the SC.

You only need a relay if you run overwattage bulbs. However putting in a relay and #10 gauge wiring will improve your light output regardless.

I'd check the prices in germany. Keep in mind that you need the whole assembly, not just the lamp. Yes the Euro is high, but even if you buy them here they were imported, so you're still getting hit with the exchange rate.

I was advised by semi-authority that the DOT-approved H4's (sold in USA) do NOT have the same lense efficiency as the non-US versions. To make the distinction between the 2, DOT added the Janet Jackson's thingy. If this were true, I would buy the German while in Germany.

Since I have the Euro, I was also warned to not upgrade the wattage to not attract the CHIPpies!

Ssssshhhhh!!

No one's talking about DOT approved H4s. We all run the illegal stuff

Disclaimer - I would never do anything illegal - even if it was an improvement over DOT equipment!!!
