Gone for 6 weeks, any storage issues I should be concerned about?
Thanks, Newbie question number 29.

Actually, you shouldn't leave it that long alone. If you ship it over here, I'd be glad to watch it for you!! Congrats on your new toy, that's a great model. Anyhow, if the car is inside, I don't think you'll really need to do anything, except disconnect battery. If you don't wish to do that, then you may not have a great charge when you return, and it will need a jump (depending on how the battery is of course).
Some others may chime in, but I've left my car many times for that period and have never had a problem (knock on wood). Regards,

....un-hook the battery, pump the tires up to 50 psi, add some stabil & fill the gas tank.
Make a note to re-adjust tires pressures before your first drive. I have performed this storage ritual for the last 5 winters, never a problem, always starts on the 1st crank.

In a word ... NO.
Six weeks is nothing. If you have one, and someone to monitor it occasionally, put a "maintainer" on the battery or you may come back to a totally dead battery. Alternatively you can disconnect the battery and re-set the clock, radio etc. when you return (just be sure lid latches operate without a battery connected, I don't know if the '89 models used electric latches) . The car itself will be fine. Jerry M '78 SC |

I tried this a few weeks ago. My girl was quite fussy about being awoken from her slumber. The first day, it was hard to get her out of bed and when we finally got her up, she was really grumpy. The second day, she seems to wake up a bit easier but still was grumpy on our date. On our third date, she jumped right out of bed and gave me a ride to remeber.
Moral: Don' forget about your girl.
