Hi,
I have a 1983 911sc and my original fuel pump went out. So I looked at the prices of a new one and decided to go with a rebuilt unit. The 1st one I received lasted for just a short while before the car would not start. Started checking over all of the steps I learned from when the original fuel pump went out. Found out the rebuilt unit shorted out. Sent it back and received a replacement, put it in and it has only lasted a few days before my car spins over but does not start. I know it is going to be the fuel pump again. Is this common for rebuilt fuel pumps to be total junk or am I having another problem which is causing the fuel pumps to short out? Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks, Glen

do you hear the pump buzzing? i didnt trust anything so i went down there with a test light to verify that juice was even getting there. i hear talk that rebuilt pump could really suck. but two lemons is tough odds to swallow.

I think you should check your connections. Did you have to cut off the ends and put new ends on the electrical connections down there. I did and I casued a ground whcih required me to reconnect the wires and use shrink wrap on the ends so that there were no more grounds. Still my fuse blew and so did the relay. So check your relay and fuse in front trunk. I used the relay for the rear widnow defroster for a spare. You can get the fuses at pep boys if you blew one of those.
