Ok, this is an embarrassing question. I just bought a gallon of swepco a couple of weeks ago. I have a leak I need to look at before I start changing oil.
Then it occurred to me I don't even know how much oil the 915 holds. I assumed it was a gallon for some reason. While I'm asking embarrassing questions, How do I find the tech articles?

I think it holds about 3 or 3.2 L or Qts . You fill until it spills out the fill hole anyway so the gallon is more than enough.

I have to look again, but I could swear I read in the 101 projects book that up to 5 quarts could come out. In Waynes defense I seem to misread things in that book all the time.
Thanks John Where do you keep all those cars?

I was never able to put in more than 1 gallon. That is plenty. The 5 quart drain pan is to make sure you have a little safety margin for handling, I assume.

I just checked 101 projects and Wayne does say have a 5 qt pan available. He doesn't say how much oil goes in so I have now dug out my owner's manual (from the winter stored glove box of the SC) .The factory manual specifies 3.17 U.S. qts or 3.o L. approx.
I have several other cars I didn,t mention some are for sale some are too boring ,one or two are owned by my kids and seem to be here only rarely. My drive can accomodate about 8 ,the garage another 2 and I have 2 and my car trailer parked at another property nearby.there are 3 more in my shop as work in progress. My wife has asked the same question so often that I think on reflection she may have given up asking. John

Thank you gentlemen.
I guess I should put my 87 honda prelude si 2.0 (rustbucket painted by Earl Sheibe for when the 911 is up on blocks) and my 92 ford e250 extended van (the money maker and trash hauler) in my profile. But I won't!
