Stupid Question about wheels
I have a set of old wheels. No tires on them. How can I determine their size?

Are they Porsche wheels? Steel or alloy? Fuchs? Brand?
The diameter and width are easy enough to determine. The offset a bit trickier. Also, the size may be stamped on the inside of the wheel. This thread should help you out: offset on BBS rims

Look on the backside of the wheels, inside the spokes. On an original Porsche wheel, there should be some stampings or castings that resemble something like this:

Does the 6 on the silver pic tell you it is six inches wide?
What does the J mean? Also...if the wheels are aftermarket and there are no stamps...can you simply measure? Sorry for the ignorance. . . I've just never known how to figure this out. Thanks for the reply! |

Yes. The 6 means it's 6 inches wide (but not really).
The diameter of the wheel is measured like shown in this picture from Bill Verburg: ![]() The J means the wheel is constructed with a safety bead. No need to apologize. Asking lets others learn the same stuff. Do a search with the search button up at the top right of the page and see what else you can find? Like this topic: Wheel Info Topic
