Mikez,
You've got mail (PM that is). |
Crap, I thought this thread was about a virus writer.
|
Nope...just about a guy that does custom vinyl for me between terms in "clinics" for drug and alcohol misuse.....
|
Could you post a pic of the siver?
|
Also worthy to note that the production of these scripts is also illegal (trademarked script) - so you can add that to his rap sheet.
We sell the original OEM ones from Porsche, but they are about $300/set. But they look right too. -Wayne |
In deference to Wayne I attempted to take down the thread....I am not able to do so....sorry.
|
you could make it legal my mis-spelling the words. :)

Not to stir the pot, but I have to throw a comment in .
I own a sign company and I think you guys should be aware that there are many different grades of vinyl material. You will want to use a "premium" grade for this application, because it's the thinnest and most flexible, is glossier, and has the best longevity and colorfastness. The "intermediate" or "economy" grades are not as good - the vinyl is thicker and harder, the adhesive is not as good, and they're not as colorfast. The cheaper grades will harden and begin to shrink, curl or crack in a few years (or less), and they will fade faster (especially the reds). The extra thickness also becomes a problem when waxing - there's more edge to catch the wax. The premium grades (like 3M or Gerber premium) are actually guaranteed for 7 years of exterior exposure, and we find that they can last a lot longer than that if kept clean and waxed. We have customers with fleet vehicles with 10-year-old 3M premium vinyl on them that still looks great. Additionally, there is only a small difference in price between the various grades, and for projects this small there is almost nothing to be saved by using a cheaper grade. Again, not to cause anyone any problems, just a heads-up. |
3m is what we use....BTW, Carrera is in the public domain, but Porsche is not.

There are two different types of trademarks, word marks and graphic marks. Carrera is trademarked 104 times for everything from hair jelly to model sets. HOWEVER, it is not trademarked for stickers as Mike is using it nor is it illegal for him to do what he is doing. His product differs from the Porsche trademark which is "Porsche Carrera". He is simply using the word "Carrera". For Porsche to claim exclusivity over the word Carrera, they would need to invalidate all of the other trademarks using the word Carrera regardless of font or typeface. It would be like GE exclusively claiming "toaster" from the mark "GE Toaster" even if your font or typeface was just like theirs with regards to the word "Toaster", it just wouldn't fly in court. http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=toc&state=nvpgv1.1.1&p_search=searchss &p_L=50&BackReference=&p_plural=yes&p_s_PARA1=&p_t agrepl%7E%3A=PARA1%24LD&expr=PARA1+AND+PARA2&p_s_P ARA2=carrera&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA2%24COMB&p_op_ALL =AND&a_default=search&a_search=Submit+Query&a_sear ch=Submit+Query "Porsche Carrera" is trademarked and LIVE: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=nvpgv1.3.85 Mike since I just pulled all of this outta me @ss, can I get a freebie!! |

Again, not trying to cause you any trouble, Mike, just thought everyone should have the information. |
Y E S, it's the premium grade....the guy may be a drunk but he stands behind his work.....if I have my name associated with the product it better be.
|
Why would anyone put Carrera on an SC? ;>
Wonderingly, John |
Coz it's a Super Carrera (or isn't it?)!
Cheers, Tim. |
