Glendora Mtn Rd/ Mt Baldy Rd.

Today 8:30AM, 46 Degrees and unlimited visability.

The two trees in fornt of the car were ravaged by the CA fires of last fall. Still beautiful, though.[img]

30 min of going up and not one single car in the area. It was amazing to be somewhere in SoCal and not hear a sound, not even a bird. I felt guilty firing it back up and running more up that vacant road all by my lonesome. Yeah, right. Sure I did. Hah!

Mountain Roads, no traffic, a great way to spend the morning.

I haven’t been up Baldy Rd for a few years, I grew in Upland. I need to get a Big Bear Run together soon.

BTW, for those of you that didn't follow the thread on the puchase of the car last summer, it came with a Carrera tail (for sale) and a mid year bumper. I have sourced correct rear body parts from 2 different silver cars (one being BBII's original shell) and one black one (Pat Paternie). So, for the time being, I painted the bumpers (the black parts) silver. The car will eventually be black with platinum bumpers and possibly platinum side script. Oh, and it gets lowered a tad as well.

It's been a stern task getting the car running and reliable, which it seems to be now. Not bad for a car that was abandoned under a tree many years ago. Nostatic calls me a masochist for bringing it back to life. Heh he.

Yeah, hi David. You were on the last Mulholland run with your awesome looking car. I was actaully scouting for a group run. Glendora Mtn Rd is a loop that runs back to the 210. To start out, you take Azusa Ave (Hiway 39) into the National Forest and turn at the bridge. BUT, Glendora is closed at the top. So, there is one way in and one way out for the time being. Still a great ride with speeds averaging 50mph. The slow is 35 and the top is wherever your courage stops and your good sense kicks in. For me, that's about 70.

Wouldn't be the same without Dr. Williams. How about the 13th?

I will be running the 914 with the Alfa Club on the 6th/7th. but don't let me stop the show. There's a market on Azuza north of the 210 off ramp that would be like meeting at Gelson's. I can get more particulars.

"You didn't mention the custom air vent in the lower left front fender" One of a kind, ain't it?

How about sooner, like the 14th or 15th of February? Nothing says 'I love you' to the wife like getting out of the house the morning of the 14th so she can run out and get you a surprise gift.

Reminds me of when I lived in Pomona and used to take those roads in my X/19. Not much power in that thing but it was a great car to toss around those roads. I really miss So Cal.

I'm trying something here, might take some 'edits.'
OK, got that up. I took Hiway 39 out of Azusa to the East Fork Road where you cross the wash on a bridge. Easy to find. From there, I observed the speed limit pretty much beacuse of some camps and speed zones to Glendora Mtn Rd, or 'GMR' on the map. Where if knifes back towards Baldy and is called Glendora Ridge Road, is where it is closed keeping you from going back down to Azusa. Glendora Ridge Rd is where the pics are taken. I u-turned up on that road after several miles. That is the loneliest road in SoCal, me thinks. It's barely 2 lanes wide and no center line. But it's in very, very good codition. Anywhere from the beginning of GMR and up through GRR is primo driving.
