What would you do to my car?

Love the notchy 915 tranny. Love the loud motor. Love how I can make the speedometer climb w/o feeling like the car is going to break apart. I'm OK with no radio or AC. But something's missing. If you had my car and had unlimited funds (OK, $2000), what would you do to it, cosmetically? Just looking for some ideas to make my car a headturner.

Nothing! She's beautiful.

Detail the heck out of the exterior, maybe lower a tad more and add a lip spolier.

cantdrv55:

Your car is a "headturner" already.

If you feel the need to make some changes, I did see an SC and Carrera 3.2 two weekends ago at Dunkle Bros that looked great. They had ducktails and attractive "Carrera" scripts on the sides. Both cars went with the SC RS look and pulled it off really well. I was surprised at just how good they looked compared to the amazing stable of 73 Carrera RS clones present at Dunkles. If I had the $$$ to spend and owned your car, I would also consider upgrading the headlights to H4's. They look a lot better to me.

Good luck.

Mike

I would probably get the fuchs restored, mayby SSI's and new muffler mayby new tyres. Or a cheap thing I like is the stone gards on the rear wheel arches.

What colour brown is that, is it (443) copper diamond?

Thats what colour I have with same interior, I have and havent seen to many around.

Lowering it and adding the front lip sounds good. And, yes, it is color code 443. I believe it's called copper brown metallic here in the States. I haven't seen very many of the same color here either. What do you think about polished Fuchs?

Ducktail, polish spoke the Fuchs, lip spolier, lower and remove rocker panel covers and H4's (you would still have $$ left).
Nice looking car (I am partial to brown).

I agree with the lower spolier, also ducktail, euro headlights, polish fuchs, update exhaust (something with a little growl)...can't see interior, update the carpet/seats, 930S wheel (#1 item)...should be close to $2k, maybe a little over.

No question in my mind - 7's and 9's. Makes a huge diff in the attitude of the car. Gives it presence.

Heres a front view, of mine same colour with front lip spoiler lowered and H4's to give you an idea how it would look.

Getting the fundamental optics right is more important than drivers ed.

Lower it, fit decent shocks, get a decent alignement done
Go the H4's
Buy some real tyres
Make sure the brakes are in order

The above work completely transformed my car. Then drive it like you stole it untill the clutch goes and the top end needs a rebuild.

Hey, that car looks familiar. Did you get waved at by a guy in a coupe of the same color at Frys the other day?

Well, considering my car is nearly identical to yours (coupe vs. targa) I'll tell you the things I want to do to mine:

1) Wheels! I love fuchs, and want some 7&9x16's, but I also want a second pair to put autocross/track tires on. I've also been considering the custom made 17" fuchs.
2) Euro style H4's. There's been a few comparison threads, but I'm too lazy to dig them up. I think they really enhance the look.
3) Lip spoiler is a nice subtle touch
4) Ride Height -- After new wheels are installed. Proper ride height combined with nice full wheelwells on a 911 really does it for me.

You should be able to do 1,2,&4 for under budget too. Then a good detailing and you're rockin'!

Dan

Gotta do polished 7s and 8s (16")! Lower it, H4s, etc.

OK, sounds like H4s, front lip, lower the car, ducktail and maybe polished 7' and 9's. You guys really think I can pull all of this off for $2K?

What's wrong with my tires? The low res photo doesn't do them justice because they're brand new, just dirty. Also, anyone have a photo of rocker cover delete?

Aussie, the front spoiler on your ride looks great!

Yes, Dan. That was me and wifey you saw at Fry's last weekend. I thought your car was red in color as you drove away. That's what's cool about copper brown. It seems to change shades depending on the time of day and angle.

On second thought, what about this?

Painted H4 trim rings w/lights, painted ducktail, polished fuchs of same size, delete rocker panel, lower the car and SC RS front spoiler. How much do you think that'll set me back? Also, still looking for photo of rocker panel delete. Thanks.

Carrera 3.2 tail, yes. Ducktail? I don't think it looks right on a Targa... actually, IMHO, Targas look best with no tails!

if you don't pay to have the car lowered and get the tail painted for a reasonable price, you might get close to the 2k mark ...probably a little above. 16x9's have gotten expensive.

OK, I stand corrected... this early Targa looks awesome with the ducktail.

It's already a nice car, but to make it even nicer you could:

add euro headlamps
add a Carrera front spoiler
add later style Carrera fog lamps
add 964/993 style "aero" rearview mirrors
replace the huge US bumper pads at the rear with euro items
