never heard of POR 15 but I used some product from loctite the dries black and takes care of any future rust trying to eat away at the metal. rust, such a nuisance, why oh why must it haunt me??

This is what por15 claims-----

POR-15 works because it chemically bonds to rusted metal and forms a rock- hard, non-porous coating that won't crack, chip, or peel. It keeps moisture away from metal with a coating that is strengthened by continued exposure to moisture.

I have used rust converters and they were no better than any other paint after some time. The claim that this stuff seals out the air and moisture makes sense to me. I haven't put it on anything yet and seen rust bleed through. You never know what's going on underneath, but the stuff is impressive.
I used the por20 "1500 degree" on my cat and exhaust recently and I think I didn't prep it properly. I noticed some adhesion problems with it last night. But I didn't use the metal ready. I just wiped it down with lacquer thinner and sanded off the loose stuff. I guess it pays to follow instructions. I really want to ceramic coat the whole mess anyway.

If you do decide to give it a try. I bet a quart would do your pan twice. I've been buying the starter kits so I don't have an open can around. The stuff is a PITA to use and if you get it on you you will be wearing it for a while.

I just found rust on the bottom corner of my rear window last week. I pulled out the window (which was easier than I thought) and found a quater size hole. Let the fun begin.

Look ma...no rust...

I have been removing all the factory sound deadening and tar paper to completly un-cover any rust. So far, I have removed about 50 lbs of stuff and only found some minor surface rust around the seams in the rear lid. I am one of the luck owners who is still searching for the rust. By the way, it is a '69.
