Brake hardware and what is this mecedes M/c that works with big brakes?

Well.....I should have stayed with the buy the complete kit theory as far as the brakes are concerned but I bought some calipers a while ago and would like to use them.

I have a 77 911s and the parts that I have are:

4 calipers (the set) from a 96 993 (they are factory black)
2 adapters that mount the new front calipers to the spindal
2 front 89 turbo rotors.

what I think that i still need is the the rear rotors, a new master cylinder, a way to mount the rear calipers, and the hardware to mount the calipers to the adapters and spindals.

the questions are where can I get 12X1.50X70MM bolts in internal hex head ......and what is this mercedes master cylinder that I am hearing about and does anyone have a part number for it? the hardware search is diving me a little nuts.

Look at this about half way down the page.

Also check the 914 tech articles, there is one about the 23mm m/c.

M12 x1.5 mm fine thread (be careful as there is also a 1.25 mm fine thread available) x 70 mm long socket head cap screw: $5.49 each, $25 minimum order. They take credit cards.

Cheers, Jim

Issue #1 unless you have 930 front fenders the '89 turbo(930?) rotors will not work for you. You need to call Steve Weiner for a set of his 930 front rotors and hats(there are other sources but IMO Steve currently has the best front rotor option. With that done the front is a bolt on. You will need to use minimum of +23.3mm o/s 7x16 Fuchs and a ~10mm &#177 spacers

Issue #2 at the back you need to purchase 2 309x28mm 930 rotors these are stock items and very reasonably priced. But the 993 rear caliper will need to have its throat widened a bit to fit over them. This can be done w/ hand tools and some times the pads will need to be ground down a bit as well. There are 2 methods of mounting the calipers;
method 1 send them out to have them converted from axial mount to radial mount cost ~$3-600/pair w/ adapters.
method 2 weld the existing axial mounts closed w//a plug and redrill for the 3" 911 trailing arm mounts.

Issue#3 The master cylinder that you want is the stock '78-89 930 m/c. The Ate/Mercedes m/c is for non boosted apps only.

you might consider AN or MS spec bolts in an application like that.

Do NOT use stainless.

Thanks everyone. Bill I wish that I bought A complete kit as you say but I already jumped the gun on these. I have a wide body kit and 16X7 / 16X9 fuchs not really sure about the off set though. still collecting parts to finish it. probably a few more months till done.

I Know they are not drilled or slotted but it is a street car and this (when finished) is still an upgrade

SC I believe that you are right. This is the second time I have actually looked at them since a year ago.

I ordered fronts. Can anyone verify these part numbers.

Boy I feel silly

This is how 930 rear discs look from behind:

Hejsan Sverige.
I've read your replay to my answer on your homepage concerning rotors. Thank you.
Acc. to Bill Verburg it's not possible to install 964 rotors on a SC!!! I've seen you have wide fenders.
Please eksplain what you have done to install them?
Did you just mill 2-3 mm of the outer edge of the hub and installed the disc between the hub and wheel? If it's that easy them it should be a walk in the park to install several diff. disc's from 964/993 or a 930 rear rotor in front. I've noticed that the newer disc's got bigger holes for wheel studs, not for the smaller bolts that bolts the disc to the rear of the hub, and they're also deeper.
