Have you seen the car, there is limited info on the car and only one image?
Do you know about the head stud issues on the 74-77 cars? It may still run with a broken head stud.

If it passed a quick visual for rust at critical points and had decent leakdown numbers, I'd be all over it for $5K.

Hmmm...I have one of those. Great car. The only guy I feel sorry for is the seller.
Here's what you have: A short ring and pinion that makes the '74 a very quick car. An overall very light 911. First with the best bumpers - they're safe and look good. You have one of the best exhaust systems on your car that Porsche ever made. No sunroof is the best you can get. Your first task is to drive the living piss out of it and then get back to us with any problems you perceive. BTW: $5k is a killer deal.

Congrats! If you don't have any major issues, it's a steal.

The seller sent me a 7.5 meg quick time movie of him driving around so the car does run. I spoke to him and he seems decent enough. I did have to pounce on the deal as he had alot of interest (he sent the same movie to eleven others and still had more to send it to). He mentioned that it might of had a re-build but was not real sure. My though is for 5K plus 800 to ship I could re-sell if I am not real happy. Killer deal....you bet.

Nice looking 911, I'm partial to the '74 because I have one! I do prefer the Targa, but that's just me... Good luck with the car and hang around and get to know the pecularities of the CIS, for instance... always an adventure!! Enjoy!!!

very nice looking car. The '74 911 is a good car. It doens't seem to have as much frequency of problems that some of the other 2.7 cars had.
The 2.7 cars are funny, everyone bad mouths them yet everyone reveres the 2.7RS as the holy grail Great Car, Great Price

Buy them, sell them

dd74 is spot on: It'll be fast, light and fun.
My '76 is also a non-sunroof coupe and several people have commented on it's desirability - plenty of headroom and future track car potential when it's a tired old beater. ![]() Congratulations, you did well! Your next task is to take plenty of photos and post them here!

For 5K, very nicely done. Drive the hell out of it. Is this your first 911?

If you wanted a car that needs TLC and will become your project, then you have done well. If you wanted a car that you could just get in and go with little extra effort, then you may not have done so well. I'm guessing that you are the former. I would venture a guess that most people on this board have (or have had) at least one 911 that they purchased as a project. It is certainly the reason that I purchased mine.

DId say try to burst your bubble?
A leaking windshield is source of rust problems. All of us who own older cars do eventually have to deal with rust, but not knowing the situation with this car, you could be looking at quite extensive resto work. But on the other hand you have a 911, you have an unburstable bubble. Congrats.

2.7s "pull" more studs than "break" studs. This has to do with the metalurgy (sp?) differences between the magnesium block and the material (steel?) that the studs were made of.
This is a situation more prevalent in the US 2.7s equipped with thermal reactors and not the '74 heat exchanger exhaust systems. The '74 exhaust did, in no way, heat the engine to the deadly degrees that the '75 through '77 engines went through - poor little things. ![]()

I'm more than a year out on that one. I have to finish my house and then build a shop/garage (three car garage is just too small).
