Removing door hinge pins
What is the prefered way to remove door hinge pins? Factory shop manual shows a slide hammer type tool, and eastwood sells a hinge pin remover, but are there any home remedy ways to do it?The doors are perfectly adjusted so I would like to remove them without touching the hinges themselves. Car is a 72 coupe.

I found a piece of advice from John Walker that really helped me do this a couple weeks ago:
If you have air tools, put a blunt chisel between the pin's head and the hinge. A short burst is all it takes to get the pin started on its way out. I'm not sure if a manual chisel would work as well, but it might be worth a try. Soaking with liquid wrench or similar ahead of time is also a good idea. Good luck!

I just drive them out with a drift...but be careful not to damage the brass bushings in the hinge..they are a pain to replace.

I did this once on an '88. Let the hinge and pin soak with a penetrant then use a drift. As fintstone mentioned, do not damage the bushings (use a drift slightly less diameter than the pin).
Good luck,
