Ok; I'm an unabashed admirer of Alain De Cadenet's glamorous life of the rich and famous in motorsports. I guess among his other interest is his ownership of an ex-RAF Spitfire

I was in Malibu two weekends ago and spied a chap in a 356 cabriolet that looked a lot like Alain. I wonder if it was him the lucky bugger.

MOMO3.2
It might have been him - he mentioned on one of the Goodwood Festival programs that he was working on a 4-cam engine for quite a while. AM

I know it's OT, but I think I could watch that clip over and over again for hours.
I love it. (Don't know why, but I do!)

likes to left foot brake.

Pure barnstorming flat hatting fun, that guy is on the deck.
On the ramp of the Blue Angels the jet mechs would just mumble "good hit" when the screaming jets would wiz by in the wink of an eye. |

Every Fourth of July, the Cereal City hosts a hot air ballon race and air show. Pretty cool stuff and we can watch it from our house which is about 1 mile from the airfield they host it at.
Last year, during the warm ups and practices, one of the Blue Angels did a high speed fly by at what seemed to be a few feet from the top of our house as he was starting back to the air field. We could hear him coming for a few seconds and then....WHAM!!!! I think he hit the after burners right over our house! An incredible site and sound! The ground shook, the windows seemed like they were going to explode, and my ears rang. My dogs couldn't get out of the yard fast enough, my kids, freaked out, and my wife...well...she REALLY freaked out! She was certain the pilot had lost control and was crashing! I only wish I had that on film, the coolest thing I have ever experienced!

Coolest part is that those old warbirds are only a little more$ than a modern supercar. A lot more per hour to run and way more than I got but for a few they are agffordable. Heck, cheaper than some BS american iron muscle cars!

VIctor, if you go to vintage airshows, there is a guy who built a 3/4 scale ju -87. It wouldn't be a s cool as an original but then again, it was the siren that made them terrifying not their performance.

At a guess filmed at Duxford (http://www.iwm.org.uk/duxford/index.htm)
and flown by Ray Hanna, ex-Leader of the Red Arrows and ex-RAF pilot and owner of a whole collection of Warbirds. Not renowned for his ability to fly above about 10ft if he can avoid it. |
