Hello guys....
Hopefully someone can help out...I am wondering what the canister mounted on the engine bay beside/behind the oil fill. I could not find it in the Haynes book. It has two hoses exiting the back and looks like one is suppose to be connected to the front. I am concerned because the hose is missing. Can anyone give me an idea what it is? Thanks in advance... Sounds like a charcoal canister. It's part of the emissions system.

It is definitely the charcoal canister. it is supposed to be connected to the fuel tank and the air filter box. Lots of people disconnect it, but there really isn't a good reason to do so unless you want to remove it to save a pound or two of weight.
If you remove it you need to take care to vent your fuel tanl to a proper location. Some people just disconnect the lines and do nothing else. That means the fuel tank is vented to the engine compartment and that makes me nervous. If conditions were right it could go boom. |
