I was starting to work on the the removal of the rear seatbelts, and seats for my RS carpet project.
Apparently, the previous owner had tried to remove the seatbelts. The bolts which are low-profile have been rounded off. I was able to get one of them off...the others I am having no luck. I have WD'd them and still no luck. I was thinking of grinding a slot in them as a last ditch effort to see if that works. I do not want to cut off the bolts heads because I want to utilize the holes for other applications (5 point belts, rollbar) . Any suggestions on how to get these stubborn bolts out (rounded)? 0.I just took one of mine of last night myself. The head is only about 1/8" thick. It also took some good torque to get it off. I'd try the slot trick and make sure it is good and deep and just fits a very large screwdriver. Then I'd try to turn the screwdriver with a wrench attached to the shaft. You might want to soak the threads over night with some PB Blaster first.

Hi,
I had the same problem. The two bolts holding the the seatbelts in the middle area of the rear seats would NOT come off. I borrowed a socket from a friend that is used for removing stripped bolts (it has a seashell shape in it that is the opposite direction of the turn). I used the socket with my air gun and successfully removed the bolts, with ease. I'll take and post a pic of this socket if you want. You can also look at my link where I describe how fugly it was to remove these bolts My Winter Projects Update - like usual, long .Steven 1980 911SC PS: these bolts cost over $30 a PIECE on PP. I wanted to reuse mine, so I had the stripped heads sheared off anf had a new heads neatly welded back on. Looked and Worked great. |

I bought a set of these 6 months ago & have yet to round off a bolt, so I'm not sure how well they work.

I just removed mine today,at first I tried a box end wrench but it would slip,I then used a 6 point 19mm socket and they came right out,I am definately going to put anti-seize compound on these when I install them.
