Difference between SC and Sway a Way spring plates?

What is the difference between SC and Sway a Way adjustable spring plates?

The sway away have a bolt thingy that you just turn to change the height (similar to the front tbar). The SC require that you loosen the lock nut and turn the eccentric (requires thin wrenches). I think you have to take the wheel off too. Not sure if Wayne has a pic of them, its pretty obvious when you look at them. Perhaps a competitor site has a pic? I know it in the catalog.

The bushings that fit these 2 items are of different sizes, and are not interchangeable. I had a VERY hard time finding replacement bushings for my Sway-Away spring plates. But you can easily find replacements for the Weltmiester Spring plates and the factory units. In the end I had to buy Weltmiester bushings and drill out the inner diameter to fit the Sway-Away unit.

Were can I find the Weltmiester spring plates? I looked and could only find the sway a way ones

I hate to utter the words... But Performance Products has them for $379.98. You might be able to find them elsewhere cheaper (along with everything else..)

I thought Weltmiester = Sway a way?

The Sway Aways are 7.0 lbs each (w/provided poly bushings) and the SC ones are 6.0 lbs each (w/new neatrix bushings)

I have both in my garage right now and still haven't decided which ones I'll use yet. The rear end gets torn out this weekend and one of them will be installed. I'm leaning toward the Sway Aways since they will make corner balancing much easier.

Weltmeister plates and Sway-a-way are one and the same.

Elephant Racing PolyBronze Spring Plate bearings are now available for Sway-a-way / Weltmeister. You can order them through pelican, however they aren't listed on the pelican web site yet. You'll need to call and tell them what you want.

I assumed they were different because NOBODY could get me poly bushings that fit my Sway-Aways. Whether they are the same or not is a mute point though, since you can not get replacement bushings for them. In which case I would go with the factory units, for all the bushing choices you have (Neatrix, Weltmeister etc.)

I respect Chuck's products, but I just can't afford them.

Thanks for the feed back. I went with the sway a ways from smart racing as they had the best prices

You're wrong about the availability of the replacement bushings for the SAW plate. You have two choices:
1 - Elephant bushings
2 - Sway-A-Way (Weltmeister) Poly

The Weltmeister Polys are cheap from this site at $8.25 each...

But when I was looking for these 4 months ago NOBODY had them. Yes they showed on the website, but guess what happened when I placed an order? That's right, "sorry, out of stock, no known delivery date".

I have a friend that owns a shop and he could not get them from any of his parts guys. Gabe at Strasse told us that he had been waiting for months for the bushings to come in, and had even gone as far as pulling the bushings off of new complete spring plates to get customers back on the road, but had stopped doing that because he was afraid he was going to be stuck with a bunch of plates without bushings.

The Elephant bushings were not yet available at that time.

I simply posted this because if I had know that there was even the possibility of a shortage of these bushings I would have went with the factory units, just so I could be sure there would be supply.
