993 CV boot leaking...

Sorry I have no photo yet, but I was in a hurry Sat. when I had my car on a lift and was changing the oil. I noticed the driver's side inner CV oozing grease at the flange. There were NO tears or holes. A few guys who were there looked at it and said it looked like it had been serviced or repacked and either the band had not been tightened all the way or it was overfilled with grease. I have no receipts for such work and never saw any leak the last 5 times or so I've had it on a lift. It wasn't huge, but the grease had been flung around and was evident on surfaces close to where it spins. Our PCA tech boss said I'd make it through tech and the DE in two weeks. But I want to get on this while it's still a cheap fix, since 993 halfshafts cost more than twice what I paid for one on my Carrera. Has anyone repacked an inner CV joint and how tough was it? Thanks.

I'll try to get a photo this coming Sat. when I have her on the lift again.
