959 anyday. For what it is worth, the only F40 owner I know complains constantly about it and drives his wifes 996 cab for fun. Strange...
|
F40, not even close. They are two completely different cars. Actually, I have never even been in a Ferrari let alone drive one. But I always wanted to be an F1 pilot...
|
F40, one of the guys that lives near by has an F40 LM, I have sat it in and seen him drive it, the thing is awesome.

No question.....F40 all the way!

Personally, I think the 959, while legendary, would get its ass handed to it by a 996TT (maybe even 993TT) these days. As mentioned, it's losing it's mantle that it's been known for. So, despite my prejudice toward Italian cars, I'd probably go for the Ferrari. As a daily driver - No question: 959 |
F40. It's just so bada$$!
|
As a daily driver??? Anything by Ford or Daimler/Chrysler. No GM because of their love for black boxes and DRL's. For a thrill ride on the street? A "look at me ain't I neat?" ride? Only 959 or F40 to choose from? F-40.
|
F40. I think the sound of the thing would be the deciding factor.
|
Can I substitute the F40 for a 288GTO? Either way, I'd take the Ferrari... sacrilage, I know! :D

F40.
(But, I'd take a McLaren F1 over the Ferrari.) |
I've been a Porsche man since I was around seven years old.
no question, F40. Why? weight, Purity of purpose. |
Interesting. From what I've read, actually, the maintenance costs on the F40 might be much less than the 959. Supposedly, it's very easy to reach the engine of the F40 from inside the cockpit of the car.

The F40 is definitely not one of my favorite Ferrari's, but I would probably go with the F40 anyway. I thought the 959 was cool in '87 when I read about it, but the looks don't really do it for me. I haven't actually seen on in person, so that may change my mind, and if I got the chance to drive them both first the answer might be different.
And as some others have said, if I won the thing now, and then had to pay all of the maintenance fees I think I'd sell either one (after driving it for a bit, you can do 1500 miles a year in the 959 now, right) and then use the dough to buy some other stuff and have some cash left over. |
And I have pictures to prove it - from a recent F-car get together in god's country...

The 959 is a great car... but the F40 is something to look at in awe... if I had one I'd put it in my dining room fo sho! What are they going for these days? 250k last time I checked... Ferrari 12 cyls are what God intended a car to be.
