Ducting for 86-89' 911/930 lower valance?
Are there any ducts made for 86-89' 911/930 lower valance that go in place of the fog lights? I'm going to do the front brake cooling in place of the fog lights but it won't look pretty.
Thanks, Brent |

You'll need to shorten or replace the trumpet horns on the passenger side of the car. I replaced both of the trumpets (didn't mind since one took a crapper awhile back) with one of these tiny Hella trumpet horns:
![]() Sorry the picture is so small. You'll also have to remove the window washer bottle on the driver side of the car. It's a big obstruction. Others have replaced the bottle with a smaller RS version. Probably hard to find one of those?

BSR Bumper ducts work well with minor modifications.
If Wayned doesn't sell them, I/O Port Racing does.

KTL,
The windshield wiper reservior is already gone since my front tire would rub. Then I guess I could just cut the horns down to size but then it might make them sound funny? George, Thanks, I will check it out. By the way do you have to cut that bar where the fog light is bolted onto? Brent |

Yes you do have to cut the bracket and bend it out of the way. You'll have to trim the duct as well to get it to fit. It's flexible enough to bend to the shape of the valence from the inside. I drilled a hole on each side of the duct and fastened it with small nuts/bolts. I painted the bolt heads and they were barely visible.
Do a search for this subject or my user name for info on this project. There are multiple threads on my project before I got the Ruf style f/g valence. Also check out my recent post on an alternate windshield washer setup if you need it.

So did you just bend it out of the way or cut the whole thing off?
By the way very nice job and good idea, I don't mind a DIY mod as long as it's good quailty and looks good. It looks like you also cut out the center section for your oil cooler or is that the RUF? I think I did see your windshield wiper bag reservior on another thread you said was from JC Whittney? That was a clever idea but since I'm doing a water spray setup soon I was going to valve the lines for the existing ones for the windshield incase I might need it someday. The water spray will be for my Kokeln oil cooler (stock location) and IC and I modified the headlight washer spray circuit for activation from the switch inside but using the same switch that is used for changing the mirror operation. I might later use the switch in series as an overide and do a boost sensing switch but not sure yet. Anyhow that along with the ducting of the front brakes is to get ready for summer. Thanks again, Brent |

One more thing, what diameter is the port of the duct where you attach the hose? I'm looking to use the 2.5" hose with the guard protectors from Smart Racing. I know some people have made there own but again it's a quality thing for me.
Thanks |

That's my previous valence before I hit a deer and switched to the Ruf style. The one in the photo is a modified stock valence, moved to the front edge of the bumper with the ends extended. I had to do that to get the oil cooler behind it.
For this one, I had to cut the foglight bracket and bend the top part up and out of the way. If you make the cut right, the bottom part of the bracket serves as a support for the duct. Yes, and the BSR ducts take 3 inch hose. I have the AJ backing plates, which take 2.5 inch hose. I just removed the wire from inside the hose where it connects at the wheel and made it work. It's not optimal, but it works. If you can get a 3" to 2.5" converter and put it on the duct end and use 2.5" hose, that would work best. There's not a lot of room on the passenger side, so an adapter might not fit there. I used a double outlet duct there and left the inboard one open to route air to the fender cooler. I had to cut that one back due to lack of space. I used the outboard one for the brake hose. Again, not optimal, but it works.

I was wondering about doing a double duct on the passenger side for that reason. Then OG Racing uses a 3" instead of the 2.5" from AJ for there cooling kit, I think. If so then the hose protector from Smart may not work and the tire might hit. What do you think?
Thanks |

I found some couplers to take the size down so the 2.5" hose will fit but it's the lack of room you talked about that might cause an issue. I'm getting the ducts from I/O but wish there was 2.5" ones. Maybe I will just go with the 3" and make sure the tire won't hit it.
