1972 911t No Electrical Power .... Need Help!

Just brought a '72 911 back to life went to do some check measure adjusts on it. Had an assistant start it up to keep it running. Starter cranked a couple times then the whole car's electrics went dead nothing no lights nada. I had the batter tested and it's fine and has a full charge. Any suggestions?

The ground? Maybe something came loose when the engine turned over.

Check the ground attaching points, battery, trans. etc. Make sure all are clean and tight.

Dan,

It sounds like the excitement is just beginning for you! Like others have suggested, check your grounds. Eventually, you'll probably want to spend a day or two cleaning ALL the contacts on the car, including battery, ignition, lights, wipers, gages, fuse block etc. Get a set of good wire brushes, a couple of beers, and have fun. You'll be amazed at how much corrosion you'll find once you get started. You can double check the connections with a wiring diagram and an ohm meter.

ok thats kinda what I thoght too it's just a shame to get so far and then have electrical gremlins peek up. I guess since the entire car lost electrical power I'll start at the ground straps to the battery and transmission first clean or replace all fuses etc etc. I'll have my work cut out for me tomorrow it seems

Same happened to me once with my 911T and it ended up being a crack in the fuse holder

I'll check the fuse holder too that might explain a lot - this 911t has been setting in a junkyard for about 20 years I'm suprised it even ran when I unsiezed it etc. Now I know what Porsche owners mean when they use the term "bulletproof".
