New Recruit for SCWDP
I just wanted to share with you my new aquisition....my 1983 911sc Chiffon White with Tobacco interior..37K original miles. Been looking for some time and finally found this one in Boston and have brought it back to the sunny south. Car was in very good condition needing only fluid changes, voltage regulator, retouch of the wheel paint and a valve adjustment. Unlike it's previous owners, I will put a few more miles on it, it will lose it's reputation as a garage queen.
I would like to thank the board for all the helpful hints and the great information for a Porsche newbie. Look forward to becoming part of this great family. Here's my first attempt to post a couple pictures to get your input. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice. That's a classy color combination. SCWDP loses one member, gains another. Best wishes!

Bob, yep the full sport package is there...including the suspension and the sport seats. As well prior owner did all the necessary upgrades...pop-off, tensioners, turbo covers, clutch as well. Had a very good maintenance history.
Only issue is a cold start problem that I need to start diagnosing...

Pristine, what a find. Do you mind sharing how much you got it for? Did you get it from the original owner? Welcome to the Plot.

Schrup, sure...anything to help the cause and raise awareness on the true value of these cars.
The car had had one owner the majority of it's life. It traded hands right before I picked it up but for only for a couple months to a friend of mine who was deciding if Porsche ownership was for him. In working the deal, I kept using the old adage of buying the best one you find, and since I had been looking for several years and had kissed alot of frogs, I felt that this car was unique. I picked it up for $16K. In regards to condition, I would have rated the exerior at about a 9. All original paint with high gloss. A few minor rock chips, that have now been fixed and a small chip in the rear tail grill were the only takeaways. No dings, no dents, no scratches, no bodywork ever. The interior was about a 9 to 9.5 as well. All original with full leather package. All original except for upgraded Blau which was period correct. Very very minor warpage on the dash around the vents, and seats were close to perfect. Based on mileage and condition and reviewing Bruce Anderson's values, it seemed like a fair price. After reading many of the posts on this forum, I may be on the high side for SCs, but again, this is a well sorted car. Would appreciate any input on what you think. FYI, the car was brokered through Copley Motor Cars in Boston... www.copleymotorcars.com. I have no affiliation with them, but Stu has a great eye for cars and tends to find these hidden jewels on a regular basis for those of you shopping on the east coast. Thanks

$16k is a good price considering the condition & documentation. Sounds like the car would be a great canidate for a concours event if that is your thing. You have great patiece & restraint. I bought the second SC I looked at.

Oh, if ever there was a car begging to be driven. Looks like a beauty, I'm glad you're going to drive it like it was designed to be driven.

I don't think I am the Concourse type especially since I would even have to compete locally with Bob Ingram's collection down here....mine is high mileage compared to his 1980 with only 5K on the clock... http://ingramcollection.com/1980/
So it will be driven and it's main admiration will be from me and my daughter's 7 year old friends....

Cold start? Describe the symptoms....mine had a fuel pump that changed tone when turning the key....after a few seconds in the ON postion the whine changed and fired right up. Ended up being the WUR....warm up regulator.
Welcome to the club....

Stunning car, congratulations and welcome to The Plot. And let this be a lesson to all the Garage Queen owners out there. Someone is going to buy your pampered baby and drive the p!$$ out of her. You're just saving her for someone else to deflower. Maybe me. You should be frightened enough to DRIVE.

Steve, The price sounds fair to me for an SC with that mileage and condition. It should be a nice tight 911.
If you want high grade condition in original paint, interior, etc, A $12,000 or less SC can't be brought up to that condition for the extra 4K. And all you will have to do is drive and enjoy with a little luck? ![]() |
