Clearance between tires and body

All:

I am putting wider non standard wheels on my 86 narrow body 911 coupe. As of now the inside rear wheels are touching the oil line on the passenger side and a bolt on drivers side.

I presume I can grind the bolt head down a bit as suggested by someone else. I know I can move the oil lines but I think this is more involved than I want at the moment unless someone can show me an easy way it can be done.

The nagging question in my head is, how much room should I have between the tire and the bolt and oillines to be safe doing DEs? I am already running almost the max negative camber and all but the last thing I want is the sidewall to cut.

I am at the point now of putting longer studs in and 1/4" spacers. Is this enough?

Suggestions, comments?

Jon

If you've ever seen the "tire cam" on any of the race broadcasts, you would realize that the tire moves side to side quite a bit. Almost all of this movement is at the contact patch, but it tends to pull the tire casing over a bit in relation the the wheel. I would suspect that a half inch would be very close. The lower the aspect ratio, the more confidence I would have in running any closer.

I will be running 40 series in the rear 45 in the front.

Anyone know if it is okay to double up on spacers? I have 4 - 1/4". Maybe two would give my the clearance I need or should I just go get widers ones now?

Man, am I full of questions and no answers.

Here's the gap that I have on mine. Not much but it's been sufficient.

275/40 x17 on 9.5"
