Considering you can get a nice clean-title SC with good miles in very nice condition in the $10,000 range, IMHO this car isn't worth more than $6500.

I agree, if you are serious about finding a nice SC, stay away from ***** with stories like this. You can get a clean documented, non-salvage title cars for $12,000 all day long. I wouldn't pay more than what ZAMIRZ had quoted. And if I did I would turn it into a track montser and beat it for as much as it would take.

That car has been on ebay within the last year. You can buy a really nice SC for $12k, no need to mess with a salvage title car at that price.

From personal experience, there is a reason that e-bay 911s are cheap. You can't do a PPI from a distance!!! That's why I am doing a top-end on a "well maintained" sc. GRRRRR

You can't tell everything from the ad, but the guy is being upfront about what the car is and appears to have docs to back it up. Looks like a potential 3.6 swap car to me, that bodywork looks nicely done too. Quote:

I just sold my 1979 911SC. I am not an expert on sales prices but I do have an idea about what the market is doing right now. The only time a salvage title becomes an issue is when you buy a Porsche and when you sell the car. If a car I was interested in, did well on it's P.P.I. I would not let the salvage title scare me away.
The one Ed is interested in is a very clean example of an SC. If your in the market for a Turbo-look widebody, it appears to be a well-done converson. Not fiberglas but steel flares, which is a big plus as far as I am concerned. The interior is very clean, the exterior also looks clean. Of course, a vehicle needs to be seen to really make a good assesment of condition. The 7's and 9's Fuchs, fill in the wheel wells nicely, although I would rather have polished over chrome but if the chrome is in good condition they are nice wheels. Back to the salvage title, if the story checks out it doesn't seem to be a big deal. I mean your not going to be driving the Porsche down the street with a sign that says "hey I have a salvage title" so if the car checks out - so what. Plenty of guys have purchased P-Cars with salvage titles and I don't remember reading any horror stories from them. I always buy a Porsche with the mindset of keeping it forever, of course that never happens but when you do sell a salvage title car you will be eliminating some potential buyers but if you have the right story to go along with that nice SC I don't think selling will be a huge problem. No way that car is worth only $6500. It's low miles, has a good history back to 1988 and seems to have been well maintained. Steel coversion, 7's & 9's, Momo wheel, H-4's, If it wasn't black I would be interested. As far as buying clean SC's all day long for 12k, you might find one after a lengthy search but they aren't falling out of the sky, well you might find a Targa but not a clean coupe............YMMV ![]()

That salvage title, regardless of whether he has documents, means the value takes an instant hit. The fact that the body has been converted to turbo-look and is therefore wearing non-original components further drops what anyone in the market for these cars would pay......for $12,000 you can get a lot more car.

Fair is fair. Clean $12k SC's are not the easiest things to find. If you want a car to do a turbolook conversion on, this could be a great value. There is a ton of money in the body of that car. If the car was not bent and it was what I really wanted, I would have a PPI done and go from there.
