SSIs and external cooler install
I have read the tech article on installing the external oil cooler from a carerra and have a question when doing this install in conjunction with an SSI install. The article states:
"The early cars used a different rear oil line setup than the later cars (1975 and up), so make sure that you get the proper lines for your car. Specifically, the rear mounted oil line will not fit onto cars with the later style heat exchangers." As I am retrofitting SSIs onto a 49-state '76 911 (having later style HEs). I want to make sure I ACTUALLY need what an earlier car would: 1. oil line from tank to t-stat ('74 and earlier) 2. oil line from t-stat to engine ('74 and earlier) ...to clear the SSIs (which I assume are same fitment as >'74 OEM HEs) Is this correct? I have installed coolers for nose and fender coolers on track cars where "routing" lines could be customized but haven't yet tackled a street car retrofit. These were all "custom" and I would like this retrofit on the targa to look "stock". Thanks in advance. Jason |

Nope.
1) You want the tank to tstat line from '74-'89 2) You want the engine to tsat from '74
