Partial Engine Drop for Oil Leak Repair?
My 1982 SC is leaking a hefty amout of oil from the front right side of the engine. I've read up on how the oil pressure sender, the oil cooler seals, the oil cooler thermostat seal, and the breather gasket are all right in this area. I read the recipe for the partial engine drop (loosen the shift coupler, undo the electrical coupler at the left rear, and undo the engine mount bolts), and that did the trick enabling me to change the oil pressure sender.
Unfortunately, that did not solve the leaking problem, so I need to look at the oil cooler seals, the thermostat seal, and the breather gasket. My question is... can a partial engine drop give you enough clearance to address these three areas from beneath the car, with the engine still connected to the axles, or is it really only intended to give you enough room to reach over the top of the intake, as I did, to change the sender? If a partial engine drop CAN give this much clearance, can someone point me at the article that describes what to unbolt? I don't want to break anything. Thanks. --Rob Siegel
