New exhaust for Brownie
Well, I spend the day at the local muffler shop today. While the ride to the shop was a little rough the day overall was a complete success. I had pictures with me from Mike Feinstein's setup and wanted exactly the same. It took the shop about a week to get the Magnaflow dual-in dual-out stainless muffler. I don't understand why since there is not much in it. They call is X flow and you can see that it is a big empty X inside. :
![]() We cut off the flanges on my previous excuse for an exhaust and the car looked like this with the heater tube installed: ![]() It took the guy a while to figure a good way to fit the muffler. Not much room to work with. After trying some scrap bends he had laying around in the shop he got serious and made new bends according to a template. Here is how it looked after that. Funny, hm....: ![]() The final product looks like this with resonators and O2 sensor port. We ended up using my old tips: ![]() After it was all done here are some shots with the setup on the car: ![]() ![]() I sounds great. Not too offensive and truely Porsche. I am glad I finally got rid of the open pipe setup and my neighbors probably feel the same. Cheers, Ingo

It's all from Magnaflow. I don't now if there is a model number for the resonators. The whole setup with me providing the tips that had to be cut off, the flanges that had to be cut off and the oxysensor cost me 500 even. Considering that the material is about 300$ (stainless steel muffler and two resonators and the oxy port) and the owner tinkered with it from 10.00AM to 7.00 OPM I call this a steal.

What plans do you have for fastening the muffler? Planning on using anything like the original pre-89 Porsche setup (band clamps) to secure the muffler?

Now I see it! Looks great. You need some muffler support. Nobody likes a saggy exhaust!

Ingo,
I'm honored to have influenced your exhaust decision. It looks almost identical to mine with two exceptions.... 1. Your guy installed your muffler with the logo right-side-up. 2. Different tips. For support, here's a pic of the brackets that I had welded directly to the muffler: ![]() Also, I used some straps from just behind the tips up to the bumper shocks to further take weight off the resonator welds and ultimately the HE's. Here's a shot with the upside down Magnaflow. Glad to hear you are happy with the sound...definately means business without waking the dead. ![]() And here's one with 993 tips... ![]()

I'll try and record a sound clip tomorrow. What format should it be. I have worked with images and photoshop a lot but don't know anything about sound clips. Will MP3 work?
For the support the muffler shop guy felt it wasn't needed. Maybe I'll do the hose clamp to the bumper shock thing though. For the welded strap I would have to get longer studs first. Ingo

the easiest way is to use the sound recorder built into windows and record a .wav file.

OK. my first try to post an audio file. I recorded it with my laptop 6 feet behind the car and used Sound Forge to edit. Let me know if the MP3 file works. It's about 550 kB in size. I started the engine and took it up to 5k RPM. I'm sure my neighbors love me. Let me know what you think.
