Engine # Help

GUY SAYS ITS A 71E BUT # DOESNT MAKE SENSE?
6201001
911/01
911-101-102-2R
IS THIS A 70 E OR A 71?

Tim Walsh 03-15-2004 01:40 PM

Looks like a 70E to me.. 71's had a 3R case ( the 901 #) and had engine serial #'s starting with 620, this one being the one thousand and first produced.

(the engine serial was looked up from the Johnson book, engine code from BA and the 3R being from my pesonal experience.)

OK NEXT ISSUE PLASTIC STACKS MFI ON A 70?

Tim Walsh 03-15-2004 01:55 PM

Possible but not likley. They're a 72/73 only item.

joet4143 03-15-2004 03:19 PM

NO REALLY THEY ARE THERE PLASTIC AS CAN BE . I RECIEVED MOTOR TODAY AND AM CHECKING THROUGH THE #'S

Tim Walsh 03-15-2004 03:20 PM

Intersting but stranger things have happened.. I wonder if someone's rebuilt the motor to 2.4 E specs.

joet4143 03-15-2004 03:37 PM

WELL PUMP # MATCHES 0408-126-010 70/71 E BUT WHO KNOWS MOTOR SPINS FREE AND UNDER THE COVERS LOOK GOOD. HOW CAN WE TELL IF IT IS 2.4 SPEC REBUILD . THIS WAS FROM A FAILED 914 6 CONVERSION SO I FELT A LITTLE MORE COMFY BUYING IT USED AS WORST CASE I COULD PART IT OUT . BUT ALL IS HERE AND LOOKS GOOD .

found something new and interestin casting # on left side 901-101-3r and on right casting #901-101-102-2r? would this mean it has been split or gone through or could it be built that way original ???

joet4143 03-17-2004 02:08 PM

is it possible to have two different casting numbers on same case one on each half ? or was this someone with a bad case using two spare halves put together?
