I have the old-fashioned third brake light in the rear window of my 84. It's a large box at the lower edge of the window, attached with double stick tape. I've been thinking about removing it and replacing it with something brighter and more modern, a la Jack Olsen's recent addition to his car. Jack's Third Brake Light
The double stick tape on the old light covers at least one defroster wire. How can I remove the old light (and the double stick tape) without damaging the wire? Heat? (hair drier or heat gun?) Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

I'd say the hair dryer is your safest bet. Just take it real slow and use a plastic putty knife, carefully , if you must.

My third brake light is dead center with my rear view mirror! I'd love to remove it.
Post pics of how the process goes. Good luck!
