Denver Pelicanite Drive Sat Morning (20 Mar)

Since the last one got snowed out...
Any Denver area pelicans interested in getting together Saturday morning for a coffe and a Drive?

UTKarmann_Ghia has a sweet fresh 915 that needs a good exercise and my new suspension should be fully assembled by then. Add on a near 70 temp on Saturday and it seems like a good day for a drive.

No planned meeting place or route yet, depends on who is in.

I might be up for this drive unless there is fresh snow in mts (snowboarding takes priority). Lets go east into the quiet roads (read fast and empty) of eastern Colorado.

Sounds fun, but have already agreed to take the urq to a tech session at Meadow Creek Tire.

Snow and cold would just make driving the urq especially gruvy-kool!

Sounds cool. Maybe the peak to peak to Estes Park?

already mentioned I can't make it, but P2P is a favorite drive of mine and lunch at the Millsite on P2P above Ward sometimes makes for a perfect stop.

Restaurant is at top left along the yellow-dotted route:

good pizza, used to drive up for lunch when I worked at the mouth of Boulder Canyon

Count me in . If you dont post details here, please email them out. This week last year we were digging out of snow well over my Porsche rooftop, but this should be a beautiful week for a great drive.

Ben, What's up with your front end?
Grady, I think I can swing by and get you if you don't mind riding with an amature driver
emptyo/thabaer: Those twisties look good to me... should settle in that new suspension very nice. Any idea if those roads are clear or if they still have snow up in that area?

Any other location reccomendations?

The route on my map started at 11A in N Boulder, up Lee Hill and turned north to go up Lefthand thru Ward, Millsite for lunch then south and down Golden Gate back to 93. You have to watch out for cyclists in the uphill lanes but the roads are nice. If you guys start at the south and head to Estes, you could go up Golden Gate and dodge the gambling traffic around Blackhawk. Nederland has some good eats for dinner (Neo's for italian!) but I'm not up to speed on lunchtime options.

I saw a snowflake or two blow by today just before lunch, but a few days of CO sun usually leaves most of the canyon roads dry. Of course you always have to watch out for gravel...

Man, I'd LOVE to go, but I'm not sure I can swing it. I'll be a bit busy this weekend, but maybe the wife and I could go. What start-stop times are you thinking of Pat?

I was actually thinking of meeting around 8 somewhere for coffee and taking off from there at 9? Figure a few hour drive with some stops, perhaps stop for lunch somewhere then I will call it a day... Not that the group couldn't keep going but I have some things to do in the afternoon as well.

My car is currently in cardboard boxes and nicely labled baggies. Maybe next time...

meeting at 8 and leaving at 9 works for me Pat. I am not super familiar with the roads you guys are talking about, but there are also some pretty nice ones up through the Poudre and around Masonville, but I would give them some more time to clear the sand and gravel.

My car isn't running yet. Still in storage mode. Give me a few more weeks though (then I'll tear it down for real).

Sure...we can meet at Moe's Broadway Bagels, right off of broadway. There's a coffee shop right next door.

I'll post a mapquest link to it.
