Ring gear reversible on 2.7?

I bought an engine from a fellow P-head and picked it up Satruday.

The ring gear has two fairly nasty engagement gouges. I can't tell by looking at the flywheel, but is the ring gear by any chance reversible? If not, I guess I need a ring gear.
