'71T brake upgrade

Hi, I am the newest member, and have visited the forum many times and really am impressed with it. Anyway, my question (one of numerous) is this: I have the 3" spaced ears on my spindles and want to go with larger brakes under 15" wheels. (15 X8 front, and 15 X 11.5 with 345's on rear) Its has a 11" and 9" flares on the body. I have a pair of 944T calipers and want to know if these can be put on front and rear? I've seen different posts but still unsure. I've seen where you fill the holes, have them re-drilled and lowered a little to fit better under the wheels. I am doing some major suspension upgrades, bilsteins all around, adding rear sway bar, mono balls. camber plates, adjustable front drop links, cross drilled rotors, better pads, 23mm m/c, and so forth. what is the most cost effective and smart way to do a brake upgrade? I dis-like making mistakes when knowledge is available, and I'm asking for help to do this the correct and most cost effective way. I live in a small indiana town. and there is only 1 other 911 there that I am aware of, SO! Not much help here in the cornfields! Thanks, John

John-
If I were you I'd hold out for a pair of struts with 3.5" spacing. I'm in the same boat, and eventually scored a pair of 3.5" struts for $140 (ebay). It took a year, but it did happen. It seems like the going rate is more like $300, but even then it seems to make sense to buy something that is right instead of making dificult and potentially risky modifications. I would hold of on buying shocks until you have located the struts. This allows you to buy struts intended for Koni, Bilstein, or Boge shocks.

I think your struts should have the early style ('69-'71) ball joint. You can use later struts if you change the ball joints at the same time.

Good luck ,and welcome to the board!
-Scott

John, these struts in the classifieds might simplify things for you: Boge Sport Struts-Bilstein inserts Boge shocks

Those struts look like a great deal. I have matching rear shocks if you're interested (N.O.S.)
