Cool video with no place to call home

I downloaded a video the other night of a 930 in a rally, very cool, 6 min long and 38 MB. I think you guys would like it, but I don't have a place to host that can supply the bandwidth or space. If some one can provide a place for me to park this thing all of us broadband geeks and the diehard, patient dial-up folks can get a thrill.

The stage seems to be mostly paved, but it's wet and looks to me like little more than a path through the European countryside some where. With the wet gloomy weather, it makes me think of what I picture when I think of England.

Is that the Gilles Nantet video? I think most of us have seen it.

Yep, that's the one. I hadn't seen it here, and I've been pretty much a regular here for the last 3 years or so, so I thought there might be some others. If it's been around then all we have to do is find it already hosted.

Very cool, just watching the video makes my butt pucker, this guy is going obscene speeds on tiny little one car wet, muddy roads surrounded by trees, ditches and lots of people. Decent quality even at 1600x1200 and good sound too. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

That guy must have some really short gears in that tranny since at one point I think he's in top gear and bouncing off the rev limiter.

Also, if you haven't already seen them there are two pretty cool videos of either a GT2 or TT in Pikes Peak, very cool, very fast, very scary at this site,
http://www.lad.lv/~martini/porsche/default.asp?l=eng&Sub=3&SubSub=2&model=911

There are also many, many more vids there, but the one that nostatic is now hosting for us is great, oh, btw, the last few seconds of the rally video aren't pretty.

This file is huge, but I finally found a guy who is more in love with his Porsche than I am.

993TT Clip

Incidentally, the one posted on Nostatic's site won't play on my Mac.

I might be able to fix that tomorrow when I get in.

Is this 930rally one the one where he crashes at the end?

From the description of it, it must be that one "where he hits a house in the end....". It's in France, no? Great film!

Yes, it is the one where he crashes into a building in the end. Everything is looking pretty darn good before that. If I remember correctly from watching it last night I think things get loose at the top of a rise which causes him to go wide and smack the house.

That's what I tell the ladies.

I got the clip to work using a new viewer (thanks, Matt), and loved it. It took me a while to realize that all the exterior shots were from a dry day, while the cabin shots were in the wet.

That oil light seems to come on before they even impact the bank. It made me think: has anyone ever engineered an oil pressure warning switch that could automatically cut ignition? I realize you'd need workarounds for low-pressure situations like hard braking, idling and start-up, but it would seem to still be better than relying on the driver to immediately react while he's also (possibly) experiencing a collision.

How do I get a new viewer? I downloaded it (about 7 minutes) but then it wouldn't play; said it "couldn't find the file". Anyone?

A friend of mine runs a historic mk1 Ford Escort Rally car and uses a low pressure switch (adjustable from 1 - 150 psi) in his oil line linked to his ignition system. He has a bypass switch wired in to allow hot starting when the starter motor can't spin fast enough to build sufficient pressure to 'energise' the ignition system. The most important thing is remembering to flick the overide to 'off' after it has fired up, otherwise it renders the system useless.

Regards Jon H.
