Are you sre it is code A53. My redbook shows all option codes starting with "M" and there is no M53.

I'm sure there is some Euro stuff that Red Book does not deal with. My '79 SC's Kardex says "Germany Equipment" which is H-4's, Auto Heat, and that kind of stuff. I know cars sold by PCGB with certain options were packaged with a common name or code. Where is this car from?

Its a US car. info is straight off of the window stickers
Listed after the importers suggested retail price
It lists:
First

then
Leather Seats
then this option A 53
then
Air conditioning
and finally

I have the same question, with my 81 SC. I have the window sticker and it has "Option Group J17 - $3205.00". I have no idea what is in this option group, but if anyone finds out, let me know. I know it is NOT the following, as they are on the sticker separately:

- Genuine Leather Interior ($1950)
- Pewter Metallic Paint ($645)
- Automatic Speed Control ($320)
- Black Roof Liner ($70)
- Alarm System ($200)
- Electric Sliding Roof ($940)

I do know that I have the sport shocks (Bilstein), which are not on the sticker, so it must be one component in the package. I also DO NOT have sport seats or electric seats. I ordered the Certificate of Authenticity, aka Kardex, so I'll let you know if it lists the options in this "group" when I receive it. By the way, total cost, with options in 1981 was $35,960.00.

I received my Letter of Authenticity yesterday. What a waste of money. It had very little info. Told me the car was red, leather seats, and the engine/tranny numbers. Made no mention of the FULL leather interior, the Sunroof DELETE option, the SPORT leather stearing wheel, short shift package or the A/C. Couldn't give me the location where it was sold nor the birth date. I will be sending it back for a refund. So, don't hold your breath hoping the Letter of Authenticity might answer your questions.

I wonder if it was some dealer add-on for a way to get some extra $ for the car back in the day....or some type of destination or gas guzzler tax. Just some wild ass guesses.

its not a dealer add its printed as part of the window sticker and then starts to list all the STD items included at N/C

I'm leaning toward 16" Fuchs and Bilstens ?????

Before I bought my car, I called Posche NA and gave them the VIN. They came back with a short list of options on the car. It wasn't even closr to what's actually on the car.

Options Porsche identified: C03, M07, 126, 197, 409, 900

I've found them to be the following:

(126 Stickers in French (or 126 Digital radio 1982 (911 only), 197 Higher amperage battery, 409 Sport seats left and right leather, 900 Tourist delivery, C03 California type car, M07 ???)

I've asked before, but no one seems to have heard of option code M07.

Options I’ve identified that the car was delivered with: Targa, platinum metallic paint (655), full leather interior (981), factory Recaro, full leather sport seats (900), forged 16” Fuchs wheels(395), wheel locks (455), fog lights (429 or 566), Bilstein sport shocks (474 or 031), factory alarm system (533 or 534), cruise control (454), stereo, cassette holder in console (423)

Regards,

Jerry Kroeger

OK, I received my Certificate of Authenticity today. It seemed very complete, listing the options I was missing (see my previous posting below). By matter of elimination, from what options were listed on the window sticker and what is included as Options on the CofA, I can figure out what "Option Group J17 - $3205.00" includes:

- Pirelli Tires
- Digital Radio
- Electric Mirror - Passenger side
- Forged Alloy Wheels - 16"
- Electric Antenna
- Sport Shocks
- Additional Amplifier
- White Rectangular Fog lights

Also, the Options listed on the window sticker are also listed on the CofA. So, mystery of J17 Option Group in 1981 solved.
