Power Mirror p ideas on trouble-shooting this problemroblems

1980 911SC and passenger sid power mirror works fine. Drivers side makes a little noise when switch is pushed to move but no go. Any ideas on trouble-shooting and disassembling the mirror to get at motor. I saw no easy way to get to mirror motor

You will need a thin bladed putty knife about 1/2" to 1" wide. Push the mirror on one side until the opposite side of mirror sticks out past the mirror housing. slide the putty knife between the mirror and the metal frame inside the mirror housing behind the mirror. The mirror is held into place on the metal frame by 3 or 4 clips. The clips are apart of the mirror/mirror heater assembly. The putty knife will allow you to gently pry /seperate the mirror from the frame. Be careful you don't want to crack the glass covering the mirror heater wires. The motor is behind the metal frame and is held into the mirror housing by 3 or 4 screws. There is a connector inside the housing for the mirror motor.

So does this sound like a bad motor or is something just stuck. I didn't think it was the switch since the passenger's side works or is this incorrect

Thanks

If it is the motor I don't think there is much you can do except replace it. I would suggest taking the motor out of the housing to check the connector connections. If it was my car I would test the motor by connecting it to the passenger side or take the one from the passenger side and test the drivers side circuit. It would be diappointing to buy a new motor and not fix the problem. Here is a link to the wiring diagram.
