you mean to get the tubes together before you slide under the car? i know i did it wrong, your c-clip pliers are the right tool. i used two pliers and grabbed them and spread them apart. and then slid it down the tube. it wasnt that big a deal. then i proceeded to destroy them trying to wiggle them past my heat exchangers.

I don't know if I have a cheap pair of circlip pliers or what. The clips just seem to not want to go onto the tube. This is so frustrating

Tell us how you are attempting to put them on.
Is it as simple as they won't slide or won't open far enough to go over the end.
Where is the problem?

mess with it. the clips wont really spread open any amount you can tell. all i did was stand the tube up. grabbed both ends of the clip with separate pliers and pushed it down onto the tube. then i pushed the other tube onto it. you are trying to get the circlip onto the SMALLER tube right? the one that goes INTO the bigger one?

yes I am putting them on the smaller tube. It seems that the clip wont open far enough to go over the ridge where the seal will go. Still stumped. thinking about trying the whole "garter spring" thing.
