Hi , my 81 930 has ever since I purchased it has gone through batteries like there is no tomorrow.
I have been putting one in every year and it is starting to get ridiculous. Recently I charged it then went for a drive, turned it off and then upon trying to restart to leave, the car left me stranded. Something is draining it. So I starting isolating the circuits by removing fuses one at a time and found that the circuit 1-2-3-1 is the one that shows 2.8 ohms even with no key in the ignition. That is the forth slot and says that it is the "Internal Lights". All lights seem to work otherwise. Anybody have Any ideas where to start looking ???? Thanks |

I'd get a meter with a ma. scale.. even an old relay can can cause problems.. alarms ?.
60ma total drain is doable

I was having the same kind of problems with my
84 930. Mine was draining the battery and burning up relays. I bet the answer to your problem is the fuse block. I had the front and rear replaced at the dealership for about $400, no more problems! Fuse blocks are a common problem on older cars.

In addition to my previous post, The 2.8 Ohms would disappear once I closed the lid switch so that is not the problem.
Last year my mechanic checked my charging quickly and said that it would only charge to about 13 volts and not the 14 + that it should be when revved up. Could this be the problem ? The lower voltage making the next start difficult ??? Jerry S |
