Front Axle Seal Orientation
OK guys, this is one that I always forget in the time between whenever I have to replace a seal on the car.
When installing the axle seals, which side is in? The gasket makes a < around the perimeter with a spring mounted on the inside of the open portion of the < I'm assuming to keep pressure on the shaft that runs through the center. Which way does it go? A) < grease B) > grease Thanks. SmileWavy |
I don't fully understand your ">", but the seal is installed such that the "open" part of the seal is facing the hub. That is, the smooth, outer portion faces out. Makes it easier to tap in with a hammer. :>)
Make sense? Probably not. This one of those things that is surprisingly hard to describe using only text... :>) Mike |
Thanks. So the side pictured below faces the hub and in towards the grease.
